Sawan Somwar 2023: Know About Second Sawan Somwar, Puja Vidhi, Shubh Muhurat And Mantra

The second Sawan Somwar, falling on July 17, 2023, holds great significance as per the Panchang.

New Delhi: The month of Sawan, also known as Shrawan or Savan, has arrived, bringing with it its auspicious significance for Hindus. During the entire Sawan month, devotees engage in worshipping Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati. This year, the month holds extra significance as Shrawan will last for two months, a rare occurrence after a gap of 19 years, owing to Adhik Shrawan Maas. Sawan will span a duration of 59 days, encompassing eight Sawan Mondays or Somwars instead of the usual four.

The festival commenced on July 4 (Tuesday) and will conclude on August 31 (Thursday). Additionally, the Sawan Somwar fasts will commence on July 10, with the final one being observed on August 28.

Second Sawan Somwar Shubh Muhurat:

The second Sawan Somwar, falling on July 17, 2023, holds great significance as per the Panchang. On this day, not one, but four highly auspicious yogas will align, bestowing special blessings from Lord Shiva upon those who worship during these propitious yogas.

Moreover, Sawan Amavasya, also known as Hariyali Amavasya, coincides with Sawan Monday. This day holds importance for bathing, charity, worship, and fasting. The significance amplifies due to the conjunction of Lord Shiva's worship with the second Monday of Sawan falling on Sawan Amavasya.

In addition, Punarvasu Nakshatra will prevail on the second Monday of Sawan and last till 5:11 AM on July 18. Observing fasting and worship during this nakshatra is believed to bring auspicious outcomes.

The second Monday of Sawan also marks the formation of Shivavas Nakshatra, a vital factor for Rudraabhishek. As per the Panchang, on July 17, Shivavas will be present from sunrise until night. Furthermore, on the second Monday of Sawan, July 17, the auspicious yogas of Harshan and Sarvarth Siddhi are also being manifested, adding to the spiritual significance of the day.

Second Sawan Somwar Puja Vidhi:

  • On the second Monday of Sawan, it is recommended to rise early in the morning, take a refreshing bath, and don clean attire, followed by making a vow to observe the fast.
