Ram Mandir: What Are The Special Rules For Worship? Know Offerings, Aarti In The Ramanandi Tradition

On Jan 22, 2024, Ram Mandir will follow Ramanandi tradition for Lord Rama's worship with offerings, prayers, bathing, and more.

Ayodhya Ram Mandir 2024: On January 22, 2024, the consecration ceremony of Ramlala is scheduled at the Ram Mandir. Preparations for the consecration have begun since January 16. On January 17, the idol will be placed in the precincts, and a bandage will be tied over Ramlala's eyes.

For years, Ayodhya has followed the Ramanandi tradition for the worship of Ramlala on the Ram Janmabhoomi. This ancient tradition involves special rules for offerings and Aarti. Even after the consecration in the Ram Mandir, worship will continue in the same manner. Let's explore the Ramanandi tradition and the worship process.

Ramanandi Tradition: Ayodhya's Ram Janmabhoomi temple will observe a unique method for the worship of Lord Rama, where he is depicted as a child. From morning to bedtime, various offerings and 16 rituals are performed. The daily routine of young Lord Rama is structured according to the Ramanandi tradition. Followers of the Ramanandi tradition, one of the largest sects, practice vegetarianism.

Worship according to Ramanandi Tradition: The worship of Ramlala begins in the morning, involving applying honey and sandalwood paste, followed by bathing and dressing. Different attires are worn based on the day and weather. The entire process is accompanied by reciting mantras. After the noon offering, Lord Rama rests.

Special Offerings to Ramlala: Ramlala is offered a morning child's meal, consisting of desserts like rabri or peda. In the afternoon, a royal feast includes dal, rice, roti, vegetables, salad, and kheer. Different sweets are offered in the evening, and a full meal is presented at night. Ramlala receives offerings four times a day, prepared in the Ram Mandir kitchen.

Three Aartis:

  • The first Aarti is at 6:30 AM.
  • The noon Aarti is at 12 PM during the Bhog ceremony.
  • The evening Aarti is at 7:30 PM. After this time, darshan of Ramlala is not allowed, and the bedtime ritual starts at 8:30 PM.
