Ganesh Chaturthi 2024: Ganesh Chaturthi is observed on the fourth day of the Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon) in the month of Bhadrapada. On this day, idols of Ganpati is installed in homes and grand pandals where elaborate decorations and processions are organised.
Lord Ganesh has 32 form and each of these forms have different significances and aspects. Each form of Lord Ganesh has its own unique symbolism and attribution which reflects Ganesh's mutifaceted nature and his ability of addressing various aspects of life. 1. Bala Ganapati - Lord Ganesh in this form is portrayed as a young child who's holding a modak in his trunk. This form of Ganesh sybolises Earth's fertility holding mango, banana, jackfruit, and sugar cane.
2. Taruna Ganapati -'Taruna' is a Sanskrit word for 'young'. This form represents Lord Ganesh in his youthful form. Devotees believe that worshipping this idol of Lord Ganesh grants them with beauty and youthfulness. The lord in this form holds a noose, ankusha, modak, wood apple, rose apple, his broken tusk, a sprig of paddy, and a sugar cane stalk.
3. Bhakti Ganapati -Bhakti Ganapati holds sweet payasam, banana, coconut and mango. He is adorned with flowers and radiates with beauty.
4. Veera Ganapati - Veera Ganapati has sixteen arms and holds different weapons like mace, trident, sword, shield, etc. is his arms which shows his courage. Lord Ganapati embodies valour, standing as a warrior in this form.
5. Shakti Ganapati - Ganapati in this form is depicted with Devi on his lap. He radiates divine energy in this form while holding Pasa and Ankusha.
6. Dvija Ganapati - Dvija Ganapati is white in colour and has 4 heads and 2 pairs of hands. It is strongly believed that worshipping Lord Ganapati's this form makes his devotees earn a good name and fame in their respective careers.
7. Siddhi Ganapati - Siddhi Ganapati holds a mango, axe, bouquet and sugar cane in his hands. This form of Lord Ganesh embodies knowledge and enlightenment.
8. Ucchista Ganapati - Ucchista Ganapati holds akshamala, lotus, veena, pomegranate and fresh paddy. This form depicts a key Tantric deity. In this form, he sits with his consort, Shakti.
9. Vighna Ganapati - This form of Lord Ganesh is known for clearing obstacles from his devotees lives. He can be seen holding a pasa, shanka, tusk, chakra, battle axe, ankusha and sugarcane.
10. Kshipra Ganapati - This red hued Ganapati is known to listen and grant his devotees blessings rapidly. He is depicted in a Chaturbhuja form and holds his broken tusk, ankusha, pasa and Kalpa Vriksha tree
11. Heeramba Ganapati - This form is famously known as the the form which guards the weak. Lord Ganesh in this form has five heads, ten arms and rides a lion. He gives blessings with his right hand and grants wishes withhis left hand.
12. Lakshmi Ganapati - Lakshmi Ganapati is pure white and sits beside Lakshmi Ji in Ashtabhuja form. He holds a parrot, sword, pasa, Kalpa Vrishka sprig, Kamandala and pomegranate in his front arm in Varada Mudra.
13. Maha Ganapati - This is the supreme form of Shakti. Maha Ganapati is distinguished by his Trinetra and Dashabhuja. Maha Ganapati is depicted in red colour and holds his tusk, neelkamal, pasa, chakra and a gem filled vessel along with other things.
14. Vijaya Ganapati - Vijaya means victory, this links to the Ashlesha Nakshatra which is one of the 27 nakshatras according to Hindu astrology. Vijaya Ganapati holds ankusha, his broken tusk, a ripe mango and a pasa while riding Mushaka.
15. Nritya Ganapati - In this form Lord Ganapati joyfully performs nritya for his parents Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. He holds his broken tusk, modak, pasa in this Chaturbhuja form. Nritya Ganapati's fourth hand is in Dolahasta position and he can be seen raising a leg.
16. Urdhva Ganapati - Lord Ganapati's this frm signifies his Tantric form. He can be seen siting with Shakti. He holds a lotus, cane arrow, tusk, blue water lily and pappy spring in this form.
17. Ekakshra Ganapati - Ekakshra Ganapati is seated in Padmasana on Mushak. He is seen wearing a crescent moon and holding a pasa, ankusha and pomegranate. He holds a Varasa Mudra by which he blesses his devotees.
18. Varada Ganapati - Varada Ganapati is known to provide inspiration to his devotees which uplifts them. He embraces his consort in this form while holding a a pasa, ankusha and honey. This is a graceful form of Lord Ganesh.
19. Tryakshara Ganapati - ‘Tri-akshara’ signifies three syllables; this golden Ganapati holds fly whisks, his broken tusk, ankusha, pasa, and a mango. This Chaturbhuja form represents the cosmic chant ‘A-U-M.’
20. Kshipra Prasada Ganapati - The round belly of Kshipra Prasada Ganapati represents the whole universe. Lord Ganesh in this form sits gracefully with ankusha, pasa, his broken tusk along with a few other things.
21. Haridra Ganapati - Haridra Ganapati wears yellow attire and sits in a comfortable Chaturbhuja position. He holds a pasa, modak, ankusha and his broken tusk.
22. Ekdanta Ganapati - This is the single tusked form of Lord Ganapati. In this form, Lord Ganapati is depicted in blue colour sitting in a meditation pose. He holds an axe, modak, broken tusk and rosary beads in Ekdanta Ganapati form.
23. Srishti Ganapati - Srishti Ganapati is the symbolism for creation. He is depicted in red colour and embodies energy. Srishti Ganapati can be seen sitting on Mushaka in Chaturbhija form while holding ankusha, broken tusk, pasa and mango.
24. Uddanda Ganapati - This is a Dashabhuja avatar of Lord Ganesh in which he holds a blue lily, pasa, pomegranate, broken tusk, pot of gems, sugarcane, mace and padma. Ganapati in this form upholds Dharma with unwavering discipline.
25. Rinamochana Ganapati - Lord Ganesh in this form with a milky hue symbolises freedom from all obligations. Rinamochana Ganapati is seated in Chaturbhuja position and holds a pasa, ankusha, broken tusk and rose apple.
26. Dhundi Ganapati - This Chaturbhuja form holds an axe, broken tusk, gem pot, and Rudraksha beads. In the Shaivite tradition, Lord Ganapati, linked with Uttarashada Nakshatra, guides towards Moksha.
27. Dvimukha Ganapati - ‘Dvi-Mukha’ or two-faced Ganapati, is associated with Shravana Nakshatra. He holds a broken tusk, pasa, ankusha, and a gem pot in his Chaturbhuja avatar.
28. Trimukha Ganapati - ‘Tri-Mukha’ or three-faced Ganapati, linked with Dhanishta Nakshatra, is associated with the color red. He holds a rudraksha mala, ankush, pasa, and a vessel of divine nectar. Displaying Abhaya and Varada mudras with his front hands, this is a Shashbhuja avatar of Ganapati.
29. Simha Ganapati - Named after his lion mount, ‘Simha’ Ganapati symbolises strength and courage in hid this form. His forward hands display Abhaya and Varada mudras, offering protection and blessings. He sits in an Ashtabhuja form and holds a veena, kalpavriksha twig, padma, ratna kumbha, chakra, and flowers.
30. Yoga Ganapati - In Yoga Ganapati form, Lord Ganapati is immersed in deep meditation in the hue of rising sun. He can be seen seated in a Chaturbhuja form holding a japa mala, pasa, sugar cane, etc. He embodies intense focus and spirituality in thi form.
31. Durga Ganapati - Lord Ganapati in this form symbolises invincibility while radiating a golden glow. Durga Ganapati is linked with Uttara Bhadrapada Nakshatra and weilds a bow and arrow, japa mala, broken tusk, rose apple, pasa.
32. Sankathara Ganapati - The final form of Lord Ganesh is Sankathara Ganapati in Chaturbhuja form. In this form, Lord Ganesh throws away adversities. He is seated with Shakti and holds a vessel of kheer, pasa and ankush.
