Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayak Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav, is a significant Hindu festival marking the birth of Lord Ganesha, revered as the remover of obstacles and the deity of wisdom, intelligence, wealth, and fortune.

Ganeshotsav is celebrated with fervor across India, particularly in Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Kerala.

Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 Date and Time:

This year, Ganesh Chaturthi falls on Tuesday, September 19, 2023. The Chaturthi Tithi begins at 12:39 pm on September 18 and concludes with Ananta Chaturdashi.

The celebrations begin with the solemn Avahana or Pran Pratishtha, which includes the lighting of the Deep Prajwala (sacred lamp), taking the Sankalpa (vow), and bringing Lord Ganesha's idol home. Ganesh Visarjan, the grand culmination, entails the immersion of the idol into water.

Avoiding Moon Sighting:

According to Hindu tradition, it is advised to refrain from moon sighting on Ganesh Chaturthi, as it is believed to lead to Mithya Dosha or a curse. On September 19, 2023, people are advised not to sight the moon from 9:45 am to 8:44 pm.

Significance of Ganesh Chaturthi 2023:

The festival holds immense significance as devotees gather to worship Lord Ganesha, seeking divine blessings and the removal of obstacles from their lives.

Lord Ganesha, known by various names including Ekdanta, Lambodara, and Vighnaharta, is revered among Hindus. His worship is considered auspicious before embarking on any significant undertaking, ensuring the removal of potential hardships and disasters.

As Ganesh Chaturthi approaches, devotees eagerly prepare to celebrate this auspicious occasion, invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesha for a prosperous and obstacle-free future.

Ganesh Chaturthi Visarjan Date 2023:

Ganesh Visarjan falls on the 10th day of Ganeshotsav. Therefore, Ganesh Visarjan 2023 will take place on Thursday, September 28.
