Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday met Tech Mahindra MD & CEO CP Gurnani at the World Economic Forum conference in Davos. In the meeting, they discussed the expansion of Tech Mahindra operations in Visakhapatnam. Tech Mahindra has assured to play a pivotal role in making Visakhapatnam a high-end technology hub.

"We are setting up one skill university, 30 skill colleges and an additional 175 skill hubs in the state," CM Jagan said. Students were asked to participate in internship and apprenticeship activities to become more skilled.

Tech Mahindra subsidiary company Assago Industries Pvt Ltd has proposed to invest Rs 250 crore in ethanol production in the state. CM Jagan said that all kinds of assistance would be provided.

The Tech Mahindra CEO said after the meeting that Chief Minister Jagan was committed to making Visakhapatnam a significant technology centre. He claimed that the Chief Minister has urged Tech Mahindra to invest in local skill development. Gurnani stated that in the next three months, they will work with Andhra University to develop a specialised curriculum on high-end technology to enhance human skills and make Visakhapatnam a hub for artificial intelligence.

CM Jagan met with Florence Verzelen, Executive President of the French software company Dassault Systems, which offers 3D-related products. The company has over 20,000 employees in 140 countries. Dassault has shown interest in investing in education, said an ABP Desam report. Florence said Dassault Systems, which has been optimistic about the CM's proposals, will soon be touring Andhra Pradesh.
