Andhra Pradesh: TDP Supporters Attack Homes Of YSRCP Leaders After Poll Victory

The residences of former minister and MLA Kodali Nani, as well as YSRCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi, were targeted in these incidents.

The supporters of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) allegedly attacked the homes of key Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) figures in Andhra Pradesh on Friday. The residences of former minister and MLA Kodali Nani, as well as YSRCP leader Vallabhaneni Vamsi, were targeted in these incidents. Despite the severity of the attacks, no injuries have been reported thus far.

According to reports, TDP workers vandalized Vallabhaneni Vamsi's property and hurled stones at vehicles parked there. In response to the escalating tensions, a significant police presence has been established outside the residence of another YSRCP leader, Devineni Avinash, to prevent further violence.

In light of these events, the YSR Congress Party has issued an appeal to President Droupadi Murmu, urging her to intervene to restore law and order in the state. YSRCP MP S Niranjan Reddy, in a letter to the President dated Thursday, June 6, highlighted that their supporters are being targeted following their recent electoral defeat. Similar appeals have been made to Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer and Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta.

This unrest follows the recent state elections, where the alliance of TDP, Janasena Party (JSP), and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) triumphed over the YSRCP. The alliance secured an overwhelming majority, winning 164 out of 175 assembly seats, while the YSRCP managed to secure only 11 seats. The TDP-JSP-BJP coalition is now set to form the new government in Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu was in Delhi to attend NDA meeting on Friday.
