Andhra Pradesh: Stones Pelted At Vande Bharat Express To Be Flagged Off By PM Modi Next Week

New Delhi: A Vande Bharat Express train was damaged after stones were pelted at its coach in Vishakhapatnam on Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday, news agency ANI reported.
The train was scheduled to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 19.

According to the ANI report, the glass pane of a coach of Vande Bharat Express was damaged near Kancharapalem in Vishakhapatnam and incident took place during maintenance.
According to officials, a probe has been launched as per the divisional railway manager. The official further added that stones were pelted during the maintenance process as the said Vande Bharat train was going to the coach maintenance centre at Marripalem from Visakhapatnam Railway Station after the completion of the trail run.
It is to be noted that the Vande Bharat train was set to be flagged off from Secunderabad Railway Station by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it was scheduled to operate between Secunderabad and Visakhapatnam in approximately eight hours.
The intermediate stops for the train include Warangal, Khammam, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry in the southern state.

Notably, this is the eighth Vande Bharat Express train, a semi-high speed train that can run at a speed of 160km/hour in less than 140 seconds.
As per reports, during his visit to Telangana, PM Modi will also dedicate to the nation Secunderabad-Mahabubnagar railway doubling line project of 85 km that has been built at a cost of Rs 1,410 crore.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for various projects, including redevelopment/modernization of Secunderabad Railway Station at a cost of Rs 699 crore and a railway periodic overhauling workshop at Kazipet at a cost of Rs 521 crore.
