Andhra Pradesh: Eight Labourers Electrocuted After High Tension Wire Fell On Auto-Rickshaw

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, eight labourers including five women electrocuted to death after a high tension wire fell on an auto-rickshaw carrying them on Thursday at Chillakondapally village in Andhra Pradesh's Sri Satya Sai district. Two others who were shifted to hospital are in critical condition.  when high tension electric wires fell on them.

The Andhra Pradesh government announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the families of deceased and Rs 2 lakh for the people who were injured in the tragic incident that happened on Thursday morning when the workers were going to work in the auto from Gudampalli.

Andhra Pradesh Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan while offering his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, expressed anguish over the loss of lives in the accident.

Governor Sri Harichandan was informed by the district officials that the accident occurred when a High tension electricity wire came in contact with an auto in which several labourers were traveling. The Governor directed the district administration to provide better medical care to those injured in the incident.

This is the second such incident in the last week in the state. Two siblings were electrocuted after an 11 KV high-tension wire fell on them while they were on a two-wheeler in Eluru district.
