Andhra Pradesh Govt Extends Lockdown Till June 10

Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Mohan Reddy first imposed lockdown in the state on May 3 for two weeks and it has been extending since then

Vijayawada: Curfew imposed in Andhra Pradesh extended till June 10th, says Chief Minister's Office. Cm Jagan Mohan Reddy has imposed the curfew on May 3 which was for two weeks and then it got extended till May 31 due to the rising Covid-19 cases.

Despite restrictions, there has been a surge in Covid cases in the state. The lockdown extension days after Deputy CM K Narayanaswamy reviewed the situation in the state. After consulting other cabinet ministers, the CM took the decision of extending the lockdown.

It has been announced that the relaxations will remain the same from 6 AM to 12 noon. As of Sunday, a total of over 15 lakh Covid recoveries have been recorded in the state. Over 16 lakh people in the state have tested positive for Covid and the death toll stands at over 10,800 while the active number of cases is 1.65 lakh.

In terms of the highest Covid death toll, Chittoor district is the worst affected with over 1,200 people died of Covid-19. The district will be having strict lockdown restrictions as the deadly virus is raging across the town and villages of the district. In Chittoor district alone, the relaxation time will be reduced by two hours. People will be allowed to commute from 6 AM and post 10 AM the strict curfew restrictions to be commenced till June 10.
