Andhra Pradesh CM Jagan Reddy Meets Home Minister Amit Shah, Urges To Release Pending Funds
Reddy appealed to Shah to release the pending amount of Rs 36,625 crore under Resource Gap Funding for fiscal 2014–15.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss several issues related to the state including promises made by the Centre during bifurcation of the state.
Reddy appealed to Shah to release the pending amount of Rs 36,625 crore under Resource Gap Funding for fiscal 2014–15.
The Chief Minister urged the Home Minister to release Rs. 10,000 crore immediately to expedite the Polavaram project's construction and another Rs. 2020 crore to fill the scourge pits formed at the main dam site due to the washing away of the diaphragm wall in the flash floods.
CM Reddy appealed to Amit Shah to expedite several issues that remained unresolved even nine years after the unscientific bifurcation pushed Andhra Pradesh in terms of development and revenue.
The chief minister also sought reimbursement of Rs. 2600.74 crores incurred by the state government on the Polavaram Project, acceptance of the Technical Advisory Committee’s revised estimates of Rs. 55,548 crores, and treating the drinking water supply component as its part.
The CM also urged the Home Minister to release the pending amount of Rs. 36,625 crores under Resource Gap Funding for the fiscal year 2014–15 and increase the credit limit of Rs. 17,923 crores, which was reduced from Rs. 42,472 crores post-COVID-19 pandemic.
The Chief Minister informed Shah that because of the irrational selection of beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act, the state has suffered a financial burden of Rs. 5,527 crore in providing rations to 56 lakh families under the PMGKAY. Jagan urged Shah to compensate for this unused ration stock should be allotted to AP as recommended by NITI Aayog.
