The Amul project has been started in the Krishna district. The CM inaugurated the event via video conference from Tadepalli in the Guntur district on Wednesday
Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan launched the 'Jagananna Pala Velluva' (Amul project) scheme in Krishna District on Wednesday.
Under this scheme, the government is tied up with Amul to collect milk from the dairy farmers, which would curtail the prices charged by the vendors and mediators from farmers thereby giving the best price to them.
Reportedly, The scheme was launched in November last year in association with Amul. Gradually the scheme will be expanded across the state. In January, the government has already made arrangements to extend the scheme to Anantapur and Visakhapatnam districts.
Speaking on the occasion of the scheme's launch, CM Jagan said, "We are preparing for the Amul project scheme program in 264 villages in Krishna district.

The CM said that under this scheme the consumers would get milk for the best prices. This scheme has been initiated in five districts. Amul is collecting milk from 245 villages in Prakasam district, 275 villages in Chittoor district, 149 villages in Kadapa district, 174 villages in West Godavari district and 203 villages in Guntur district. So far 148.50 lakh litres of milk have been collected. They are paying about Rs 71 crore to the dairy farmers.
"In November this year, 21,57,330 litres of milk was collected in five districts. An average of 75,000 liters of milk is collected daily from 30,640 farmers. Under this scheme, we are paying a maximum of Rs 74.78 per liter for buffalo milk and Rs 35.36 per liter for cow's milk," he added.
According to CM Jagan during his Padayatra, he encountered several dairy farmers who were experiencing financial difficulties.
"The Memorandum of Understanding with Amul has resulted in considerable systemic change. The company, the eighth largest milk processor in the country, is not interested in profiting from the state. The dairy farmers are now shareholders in this business; they are the ones who provide, benefit from, and profit from this MOU." said Jagan.
