6 Killed, Over 30 Injured As Bus And Truck Catch Fire After Collision In Andhra

Andhra Pradesh News: At least six people were burned alive and 32 others sustained injuries after a bus collided with a truck on the Hyderabad Vijayawada highway in Andhra Pradesh. The accident took place on the intervening nights of Tuesday and Wednesday. According to ABP news sources, a private travel bus on the way to Hyderabad from Chinnaganjam in Bapatla district collided with a truck near Chilakaluripet mandal. Following the accident, both vehicles caught fire.
According to the people who sustained injuries in the incident, there were 42 people on the bus at the time of the accident. All of the victims are said to be residents of Nilaipalem, Chinganjam Mandal, Bapatla District, ABP News sources said.
The deceased were identified as Anji (35), Uppgundur Kashi (65), Uppugundur Lakshmi (55), and Mupparaju Khyati Saishri (8). The information on two others who died in the accident is yet to be known. The injured were given first aid at the government hospital in Chilakaluripet town and shifted to Guntur for better treatment, the sources said.
"The injured people informed that a total of 42 people were travelling in the bus after casting their vote on Monday. Among them a lorry driver, a bus driver and four others died on the spot," said an official of the Chilakaluripeta rural police station, as quoted by news agency ANI. "It is reported that six people died in this accident," police said.
The bus was enroute to Hyderabad from Chinnaganjam, a Mandal in Bapatla district when it collided with lorry. The two vehicles were completely damaged in the accident, police said.
In another incident, at least 14 people are feared trapped after a lift collapsed at Kolihan mine in Rajasthan's Jhunjhunu district. The incident took place at Hindustan Copper Limited's (HCL's) copper mine in the late hours of Tuesday and rescue operation is underway. Ambulances have been rushed to the spot and doctors have been asked to prepare for any situation.
