Melania operated successfully for 'benign' kidney condition

New Delhi [India], May 15 (ANI): United States First Lady Melania Trump's operation for a "benign" kidney condition was completed successfully on Monday.

As per a White House official statement, Melania Trump underwent an embolization procedure to treat a benign kidney condition.

The statement further informed that the operation was successful.

"The procedure was successful and there were no complications. Mrs. Trump is at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and will likely remain there for the duration of the week," the statement read.

Further, it has been reported that the Melania wishes to recover fully as she wants to focus her work for the children as part of 'Be Best' initiative.

Later, United States President Donald Trump took to his Twitter account to inform that he will be visiting Melania in the hospital.

"Heading over to Walter Reed Medical Center to see our great First Lady, Melania. Successful procedure, she is in good spirits. Thank you to all of the well-wishers!," Trump tweets.

New York Times quotes Johns Hopkins Patients' Guide to Kidney Cancer describing an arterial embolization as a procedure in which a special sponge-like material is placed into an artery that supplies blood to the kidney. A thin tube catheter is inserted into a vessel in the leg and into the main vessel feeding the kidney. (ANI)
