Have 'verbal approval' to build New York-DC hyperloop: Elon Musk

New York [U.S.], July. 21 (ANI): New York to D.C. in just half an hour? It's happening! Serial entrepreneur Elon Musk, who is the head of Tesla, SpaceX and now The Boring Company, has confirmed that he "just received verbal [government] approval" to build a new underground hyperloop network that can shuttle commuters between the two cities, about 230 miles apart, in 29 minutes.

Taking to Twitter, Musk announced that his new super-fast transportation network will also have stops in Philadelphia and Baltimore, as well as "up to a dozen or more entry/exit elevators in each city."

However, Musk didn't say what government official gave him a "verbal" OK for the project, and it's also not clear that anyone would have the ability to sign off on such a project single handedly, much less verbally.

Musk admitted after his announcement Thursday, that there's "still a lot of work needed to receive formal approval."

Meanwhile, CNN reports that the White House has responded to Musk's tweets, "We have had promising conversations to date, are committed to transformative infrastructure projects, and believe our greatest solutions have often come from the ingenuity and drive of the private sector." (ANI)
