Does Putin's football gift to Trump have a secret device?
Washington D.C. [U.S.A.], July 18 (ANI): If United States security experts are to be believed, the soccer ball that Russian President Vladimir Putin gave to his US counterpart Donald Trump might have a non-metallic bugging device the power source of which could last for a month or longer.
Security experts say there is a simple way of putting a bugging device inside the ball and it is very difficult to detect it, reported TMZ.
"We did some checking, and there are thin devices that can be stitched inside the ball with a power source that could last around one month or longer. Furthermore, we're told it's possible for a bug to be non-metallic, which makes it harder to detect," the site reported.
It further stated that it's not necessary that the mentioned device was activated right away, which would make "detection much more difficult".
For those unversed, the Russian President gifted the soccer ball to President Trump during a press conference ahead of their Helsinki summit on Tuesday.
Later on, Trump threw the ball towards his wife Melania Trump and announced it was going to their son, Barron.
Russia hosted the 21st FIFA World Cup this year, which concluded on Sunday.
"It's important to note Trump treasures sports memorabilia -- his office in Trump Tower is littered with balls, bats, golf clubs, football helmets and a lot more he's collected from pro athletes over the years," TMZ pointed.
Barron lives with his parents in the residence quarter of The White House.
Soon after the Helsinki summit, President Trump hailed his meeting with his Russian counterpart and said that it was "even better" than his meeting with NATO allies earlier this month.
"While I had a great meeting with NATO, raising vast amounts of money, I had an even better meeting with Vladimir Putin of Russia. Sadly, it is not being reported that way - the Fake News is going Crazy," Trump tweeted. (ANI)
