British mountaineers rescued by Pak Army

Gilgit-Baltistan [Pakistan], July 1 (ANI): Two British mountaineers stuck in a snow avalanche at the more than 19,000 feet high Ultar Sar Peak near the Hunza Valley of Gilgit Baltistan have been rescued.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Sunday that pilots of the Pakistan Army rescued British climbers Bruce Normand and Miller Timothy.

ISPR Director General Major General Asif Ghafoor, however, said that a third mountaineer, an Australian identified as Christian Huber, had died.

The Dawn said that the three mountaineers had begun their ascent in late May and had received permission to continue with their climb till the first week of July.

The team was being managed by Higher Ground Expeditions, a tour operating company in Hunza Valley. (ANI)
