Shakumbhri Devi: History of the temple and other facts

Shakumbhri Devi temple is one of the famous shakthi peeth temples in India. According to mythology a demon Durgam prayed to Lord Brahma and took the possession of all four vedas. This is why earth suffered a lot as all the prayers came to an end, greenery was destroyed, water wasn't available etc. Then saints prayed to Maa and happy goddess took Shakumbri avatar. She cried with her 100 eyes and it turned into water on earth
