Loksabha Elections 2024: Amritpal Singh's parents begin campaigning for their son | ABP News

Tarsem Singh and Balwinder Kaur, the parents of 'Waris Punjab De' chief, Amritpal Singh, have begun campaigning for their son, who is currently incarcerated in Dibrugarh jail in Assam. Amritpal, a pro-Khalistan leader, filed his nomination as an independent candidate from the Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha constituency in Punjab last week.

According to his parents, Singh will be contesting the elections on issues related to drug abuse and the alleged illegal detention of some of his supporters in Punjab. They claim that the campaign has garnered massive support. The nomination papers of the radical preacher were filed by his representative on Friday after the Punjab and Haryana High Court refused to grant him temporary release for seven days to do so himself.

Amritpal Singh, who styled himself after slain Khalistani militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, was arrested in Moga's Rode village on April 23rd last year following an over a month-long manhunt.
