Weather Update: Patna Submerged After Hours of Heavy Rainfall, Deputy CM’s Residence and Hospitals Waterlogged
Heavy rainfall in Bihar’s capital Patna since last night has completely exposed the claims and preparedness of the municipal corporation. Continuous downpour has left most parts of the city submerged, with water entering ground-floor houses, roads turning into rivers, and residents forced to wade barefoot through knee-deep water carrying their shoes in hand. From major streets to narrow lanes, every part of the city is battling severe waterlogging. The situation is so dire that even the official residence of Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha has not been spared. Water has entered the premises and flooded the surrounding areas, raising questions about how ordinary citizens are expected to cope when top officials themselves are not immune. At Nalanda Medical College and Hospital, rainwater has entered doctors’ chambers, creating serious challenges for patient care. Ambulances are stuck, and critical medical services are being disrupted.Despite repeated assurances from the municipal authorities that Patna was prepared for monsoon rains, just five hours of downpour has revealed the reality. The drainage system has completely failed, and life in Patna has come to a standstill. Residents are demanding accountability as their daily lives have been thrown into chaos, and the government’s inaction stands exposed.
