Tripura Flood: Over 20 Dead in Tripura Floods, Multiple Teams Deployed for Rescue | ABP News
At least 24 people have died and two are missing, with nearly 128,000 displaced and relocated to shelters due to recent heavy rainfall-induced flooding, officials reported on Friday. State revenue secretary Brijesh Pandey noted that since August 19, the government has established 558 relief camps for those affected. Officials indicated that the flood situation is gradually improving, as rainfall has decreased over the past 24 hours. Water levels in all rivers, except the Gomati River at Sonamura in the Sepahijala district, have dropped below the danger level. Initial estimates suggest that the floods have caused approximately ₹5,000 crore in damage. On August 19, the state experienced a record 288.8 mm of rainfall in a single day across one of its eight flood-affected districts. In response, the Centre has allocated a ₹40 crore package for rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas.
