Jharkhand Student Protest: Agitation Continues for 26th Day in Ranchi

Student protests in Ranchi, Jharkhand have entered their 26th day, with students continuing to demand a CBI probe into alleged examination irregularities. Meanwhile, the state government has issued a notification announcing several measures, including the cancellation of the JSSC CGL examination and other exams conducted by TDPL. The government has also ordered a CID investigation into alleged examination irregularities since 2014 and announced internal monitoring mechanisms for JPSC and JSSC. To improve the examination system, a committee headed by IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal will be formed. The government will also request the High Court to establish fast-track courts for quicker disposal of cases related to examination fraud. However, the controversy has deepened after candidates who secured government jobs through the CGL examination protested against its cancellation. They argue that they followed the legal recruitment process and that cancelling the examination suddenly could affect around 2,000 families. They accuse the government of giving in to crowd pressure and demand that the cancellation decision be withdrawn.
