India has ability to urge President Putin to end war in Ukraine: US
Washington D.C. (U.S.), July 10 (ANI): PM Modi and President Putin walked ‘shoulder to shoulder’ during his 2-day visit to Russia from July 08-09. As India & Russia displayed their deepening partnership, it grabbed eyeballs across the world & made headlines. The Moscow visit of PM Modi marked his first visit to Russia since the conflict between Russia and Ukraine started in 2022. The visit also comes in the wake of the latest attack from Russia at a children’s hospital in Ukraine that killed 44 people including children. As the Russia-Ukraine conflict continues to rage on, US on July 09 said that ‘India has ability to urge President Putin to end war in Ukraine’. The statement from the US came after PM Modi emphasised to President Putin that the solution to the Ukraine conflict lay in dialogue and not on the battlefield. During his bilateral talks with President Putin, PM Modi raised the issue of killings of children and said it was “heart-wrenching”. India has always advocated for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine and restore peace. During the last in-person meeting between two leaders on the sidelines of SCO summit in 2022, PM Modi said, “This is not an era of war”.
