Violence mars West Bengal by-elections as BJP polling agent's house attacked in Ranaghat. The agent alleges TMC goons fired at his house in Purnanagar and ransacked another in Pyradanga, leaving him panicked and refusing to go to the booth. By-elections are underway in four assembly seats - Maniktala, Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagdah, and Raiganj - with around 10 lakh voters casting their ballots. Heavy security deployment is in place, but incidents of violence have raised concerns. Voting began at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The by-elections are seen as a test of strength for the ruling TMC and the opposition BJP in the state.
