Tata Communications Names N Ganapathy Subramaniam As New Chairman Of The Board

The board of Tata Communications on Friday approved the appointment of N Ganapathy Subramaniam as the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tata Communications Limited. This decision marks a significant development in the leadership structure of the company.
Subramaniam, often referred to as NGS, initially joined the Tata Communications board as a Non-Executive Director on December 2, 2021. His wealth of experience and leadership expertise made him a valuable member of the team.
With an extensive career spanning over 40 years in the Indian IT industry, Subramaniam has been a key figure at Tata Consultancy Services Limited (TCS). He served in various leadership roles throughout his tenure, culminating in his position as Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of TCS.
In a statement, Tata Communications stated," We are pleased to inform you that the Board of Directors of the Company have, based on the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, appointed Mr. N. Ganapathy Subramaniam, Non-Executive, Non-Independent Director as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Company with effect from March 14, 2025."
"He has played a strategic role in several landmark initiatives that TCS undertook across banking, telecom and public services globally. He has in-depth knowledge on technology, operations, product development, business transformation and change management as organizations manage their technology and business," the statement further added.
"As a thought leader, he has spoken in global conferences and actively interacts to shape opinion across industry and the government," it also said.
About N Ganapathy Subramaniam
Currently, Subramaniam holds key positions across several prominent companies and institutions. He serves as the Chairman and Non-Executive Director of the Board at Tata Elxsi Limited and Tejas Networks Limited. Additionally, he is a Non-Executive Director at Tata Communications Limited. NGS also plays an important role as the Chairman of the Governing Council of the Bharat6G Alliance and is a member of the Institute Body at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology. Beyond his corporate roles, he is the President of the Executive Committee at The Society for the Rehabilitation of Crippled Children in Mumbai, contributing to both the business and social sectors.
