Why is South Korea's population decreasing? | ABP Health Live

Will South Korea vanish from the face of the planet? Not literally, but yes, given the nation's declining birth rate, this could come to pass for their population by the end of this century. What is the cause of this population drop, then? According to the reports, it is the gender gap and socioeconomic pressure. The fall in South Korea's fertility rate can be attributed to the government's family planning strategy. With a per capita income of 20% of the world average and a fertility rate of six children per woman in the 1960s, South Korea took steps to lower the birth rate out of concern for population growth. By 1982, the fertility rate had fallen to 2.4, and by 1983, it had reached that level.
