What Is the 'Prashant' Trend? How a Hilarious Misheard Word Became an Internet Sensation
The 'Prashant' trend, sparked by a viral misheard word in Ayush's dessert-naming reel, has taken over social media, with brands and Bollywood stars joining in on the hilarious craze!

The trends on social media are always changing and every now and then you will find a funny thing coming your way. And if you had scrolled your time line enough you would have come across the new ‘Prashant’ trend, which has taken over the social media platforms. Even the brands, and bollywood stars are also jumping into the trend.
What Is the 'Prashant' Trend?
This viral sensation was kicked off by content creator Ayush, known for his humorous split-screen English learning reels. In one of his recent videos, he attempted to learn the names of English desserts. When a voice in the video asked, "What is it called?" while showing an image of a croissant, Ayush confidently responded with "Patties." The AI voice then corrected him by pronouncing it as "croissant," but Ayush misheard it as "Prashant?"—delivering the line with an amused expression. The hilarious misunderstanding instantly became meme material, garnering about 17.9 million views and sparking a trend across social media.

Ayush didn't stop at "Croissant." He also tried naming the other desserts. When the reel showed a brownie, he called it a "cake." When it showed a pie, he again called it a "cake." He changed "cinnamon roll" to "biscuit" and named a macaron "cream wale biscuit." A pretzel became "Dil Wale Biscuit," and baklava turned into "Khurma."
In the final two, he called a Swiss roll simply a "roll." When he finally thought he had won by naming the donut, it turned out to be a "Chocolate Frosted Donut."
Celebrities Hop on the Trend
The trend has now made its way to Bollywood, with actress Diana Penty joining in. She shared a reel on Instagram featuring Ayush’s viral voiceover in the background while she enjoyed a croissant. Captioning it, "And all this while I thought it was Khwaason," her post further fueled the excitement around the trend.

Brands Join the 'Prashant' Hype
As expected, brands wasted no time in hopping onto the trend. Swiggy, the online food delivery platform, took to X (formerly Twitter) with a witty post: "tum Prashant bologe, hum croissant samajh lenge."

The post included a screenshot showing ‘Prashant’ being typed into the Swiggy search bar, with results displaying croissants instead. The internet found it hilarious, with users dropping comments like, "Ek blueberry jam Prashant mere ghar bhijwa dena bhai," and "Next level marketing." Some even tried the search themselves and posted screenshots, confirming, "Bro is not kidding" and "It’s true… I checked it." The post has since gained 17.2K views on X and continues to trend. Baking giant Britannia also joined the fun by temporarily renaming their Instagram handle to "Britannia.Prashant."
