WATCH | Madhya Pradesh Residents Throw 'Beach Party' On Pothole-Filled Road

New Delhi: In a bid to draw the attention of civic authorities towards the poor condition of pothole-ridden roads, the residents of Anuppur district in Madhya Pradesh came up with a unique way of protest. In a video that has gone viral on the social media, residents of the area can be seen sitting on chairs on a big crater on the road, partying and drinking, with their legs dipped in the muddy water that has accumulated due to rains.

To add to the ‘party’ ambience, the locals also put up some disco lights with dance music playing in the background, and some beach balls to play.

Setting the mood with party music, the locals can be seen having a blast, enjoying drinks and snacks. The video also shows saplings planted in the smaller potholes around the crater as decoration.

Meanwhile, netizens reacted to the viral video with some criticising the authority for being negligent about the common man's issues, and others praising the positive attitude of the locals partying in the potholes.

In a similar protest last year, residents of Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district planted paddy on the muddy road leading up to their village in a bid to highlight the poor condition of the road.

Potholes are a recurring problem in Bengaluru too. Residents of Karnataka's capital have also come up with quirky activities in a pothole such as a boat ride in order to draw the attention of authorities towards the bad quality of roads.
