Viral Video Of Beluga Whale Cleverly Getting A Ball Impresses Netizens

In the short clip that is going viral, the whale can be seen spitting water on the ball to get it to bounce off the wall and get closer to get hold of it.

New Delhi: An old video of a Beluga whale has gone viral and is doing the rounds over the Internet in which the whale can be seen trying to get a ball, which fell outside the tank. In the short clip that is going viral, the whale can be seen spitting water on the ball to get it to bounce off the wall and get closer to get hold of it.

The video was shared on the microblogging site Twitter by Fascinating. The whale is unsuccessful in its attempt as the ball does not come close enough. Despite being unsuccessful in its attempt the whale gives it another go and, after a few moments, the ball comes a little close.

The whale goes underwater again to fill its mouth with water but soon realises it won't be needed. It spits the water and then goes on to grab the ball with its jaws and swims off.

Whales or White Whales, which are usually known for their friendly nature are vocal communicators and social animals. They use a variety of clicks, whistles, and clangs.

The 20-second-long video managed to garner 4.7 million views and one lakh likes. The video was shared with the caption "How this beluga whale cleverly retrieves his ball,".

The video also managed to draw reactions from users on Twitter. "A beluga brain is just under twice the size of a human one and has more folds in its neocortex (surface area), indicating that the part of their brain that's involved in problem-solving and thinking is highly elaborated," a user wrote.

"Man beluga whales feel like the dogs of the sea. Smart, friendly. What I wouldn't give to have a pet beluga whale in my pool," said another user. A second person commented, "the cutest baby beluga." "High IQ," added another person.

Many users raised questions and said that why the whale was kept in a tank and said that it should be freed. "There's not a single reason to have whales and dolphins in tanks like that," commented one user commented.  A user said, "as cute as this might be, ultimately it really isn't because these mammals should not be kept in captivity like this..."
