In the clip the policeman can be seen stopping vehicles and tying a rope across four lanes of the highway.

A policeman from the Punjab police department has gone viral on internet for a unique type of protest. The cop in protest against 'corruption' and alleged inaction against criminals by policemen at his police station lay down in the middle of the road on Tuesday,  led to a traffic jam on the vital highway of Punjab's Jalandhar.

In the video shared on the microblogging site Twitter by Harpinder Singh, the Home Guard personnel can be heard saying "I catch thieves and cops at my police station let them off after taking money." In the clip he can be seen stopping vehicles and tying a rope across four lanes of the highway to block traffic. One can also see fellow policeman kicking him to leave the road in order to clear the traffic.

However, the police has denied the cop's claim and say that the he was not man handled.

According to NDTV, the Home Guard personnel had arrested a man and taken him to the Bhogpur police station. When he went to the police station and asked about the man yesterday, however, his fellow cops gave him evasive answers after which he took the step.

Since being shared, the clip has amassed close to 12,000 views and tons of comments.

"Keep it bai ji lod hai tuade wargya di It’s really shameful if he was suspended," commented one user on seeing the video.

"Appreciate his innocence and honesty.., wrote another Twitter user. While a third wrote, "This is so true, woh mehnat kyu kare fir ??."
