'Thoda Teekha Kam Please': Japanese Envoy Relishes Indian Street Food With Wife, PM Modi Reacts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reacted to a viral video of the Ambassador of Japan to India Hiroshi Suzuki enjoying Vada Pav and Misal Pav along with his wife in Pune.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday reacted to a viral video wherein the Ambassador of Japan to India and Bhutan Hiroshi Suzuki was seen enjoying Vada Pav and Misal Pav along with his wife on Sunday. In a Tweet, Modi expressed his happiness to see the ambassador enjoying India’s culinary diversity and also presenting it in such an innovative manner. He even encouraged the Japanese envoy to continue posting such videos on social media platforms.

"This is one contest you may not mind losing, Mr. Ambassador. Good to see you enjoying India’s culinary diversity and also presenting it in such an innovative manner. Keep the videos coming!" he tweeted.

On his Pune visit for an event, Ambassador of Japan to India and Bhutan Hiroshi Suzuki tried Maharashtrian-style street food but had a minor complaint that Indian street food was too spicy for him.

Taking to Twitter, he said, “I love street food of India but thoda teekha (less spicy) kam please!”

In the video posted by him, he was heard saying he wanted less spicy food while his wife said she wanted hot spicy Kolhapuri food.

The ambassador said, “My wife beat me!”

Later, he tried the Misal Pav dish as many of his followers on Twitter had recommended he try it.

In the recent past, US Ambassador To India, Eric Garcetti was also seen enjoying the local Indian food. He relished some delicious Hyderabadi food including the Hyderabadi gosht biryani and khubani ka meetha.

Last month, the newly-appointed US Ambassador to India, paid a visit to the iconic Charminar and tasted a cup of tea while admiring the monument.
