70-Year-Old Woman Receives Job Application 48 Years Later; Here's Why

Tizi Hodson, now 70 years old, spent nearly five decades pondering why she never received a response to her letter for her dream job as a motorcycle stunt rider, sent in January 1976

A woman in the UK recently received a job application she submitted 48 years ago, a surprising twist that rekindled memories from her past. Tizi Hodson, now 70 years old, spent nearly five decades pondering why she never received a response to her letter for her dream job as a motorcycle stunt rider, sent in January 1976. It was only recently that she learned her application had been hidden behind a drawer at a post office all these years, according to a report from BBC.

Upon receiving the long-lost letter, Hodson expressed her amazement: "I always wondered why I never heard back about the job. Now I know why." At the top of the letter was a handwritten note that read: “Late delivery by Staines Post Office. Found behind a draw. Only about 50 years late.” This note was humorously signed by "U Now Hoo," a playful nod to "You-Know-Who," the dark wizard from the Harry Potter series.

Despite her excitement, Hodson admitted to the publication that she had no idea who returned the letter or how it made its way back to her. “It seems incredible to get the letter back after all this time. How they found me when I’ve moved house 50-odd times, and even moved countries four or five times, is a mystery,” she said. "It means so much to me to get it back all this time later. I remember very clearly sitting in my flat in London typing the letter. Every day, I looked for my post, but there was nothing there. I was so disappointed because I really, really wanted to be a stunt rider on a motorcycle,” she remarked.

Though initially disheartened by the lack of response to her application, Hodson didn’t let that stop her from pursuing other career paths. She moved to Africa, where she worked as a snake handler and horse whisperer and even became an aerobatic pilot and flying instructor.
