Bear Raids Rajasthan Homes, Drinks Milk And Steals Food Near Ranthambore

A bear in Rajasthan’s Bajoli village breaks into homes at night, stealing milk and food, while tiger sightings near Ranthambore raise safety concerns.

Residents of Bajoli, a village adjacent to the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve, have been gripped by fear in recent weeks as a bear has been repeatedly entering their homes at night, causing significant distress and damage.

According to villagers, the bear has been breaking into houses by damaging doors and windows, and stealing food items such as milk, ghee, curd, and other kitchen staples. One video circulating shows the bear emerging from a house with what appears to be a milk pouch or curd container in its mouth, followed closely by a dog.

“We tried to lure the bear into the cage set up by the forest department, but it did not follow,” the locals said, expressing frustration with the authorities’ limited response. The villagers have now demanded that the forest department send a rescue team to catch the bear and ensure their safety.

Meanwhile, wildlife encounters in the region are not limited to bears. Today morning, a tiger was spotted near the Sherpur helipad, just outside the Ranthambore National Park. Officials responded promptly, tranquilising the big cat and safely returning it to the forest.

Ranthambore is home to over 70 tigers, and sightings have become increasingly common, prompting authorities to urge visitors to exercise caution. Just last month, a tigress suspected of turning man-eater was captured inside a hotel in Ranthambore after hiding behind a tourist cottage. The animal was tranquilised and placed in a secure enclosure within the park.

Tragically, in April, a seven-year-old boy was carried off by a tiger inside the Ranthambore National Park. The child’s grandmother recounted the horrifying incident: the tiger leapt from the undergrowth, snatched the boy by the neck, and dragged him away despite her holding his hand.
