SEC discards Rajender's namesakes from the nomination list
Meanwhile, the election commission has discarded Eatala Rajender's namesakes as three other nominations were filed in the name of 'Rajender, E'. The reason the election commission has given for discarding these namesakes is they would confuse voters and cause disarray. Of the 61 nominations filed in the Huzurabad byelections, only 42 are valid as EC has rejected 19 nominations. Leading party candidates Gellu Srinivas from TRS, Etala from BJP and Balmoor Venkat from Congress have filed their nomination for the Huzurabad byelection.
The BJP has alleged that the TRS leaders made the nominations to confuse voters. According to a report in The New Indian Express, Karimnagar Commissioner of Police V Satyanarayana said that they have deployed police personnel to increase the vigil in the Huzurabad constituency. Another reason for the tightening of security was due to a threat from Maoists as mentioned a few days ago by the Karimanagar Commissioner of Police.
