Telangana Health Minister Harish Rao Writes To Centre Urging To Reduce Gap Between Two Vaccine Doses
Minister Harish Rao has asked the Union Minister to reduce the gap between the second dose of the vaccine and the precautionary dose from 9 months to 6 months
Hyderabad: The Telangana Health Minister Harish Rao wrote a letter to Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Tuesday urging him to reconsider the timeline of the vaccination drive. Harish Rao also demanded the Centre to also consider reducing the interval between Covid vaccination and precautionary dose.
He asked the Union Minister to reduce the gap between the second dose of the vaccine and the precautionary dose from nine months to six months. Harish Rao also requested the Union Minister to facilitate the deadline between the second dose and the precautionary dose for medical health personnel to 3 months. Also, it is recommended that a prophylactic dose be given to everyone over the age of 60 (regardless of comorbidities).
Harish Rao asked to consider giving booster dose to every citizen above 18 years. He noted in the letter that he was making these recommendations based on the results of booster dose policies adopted in nations such as the United States and the United Kingdom.

On the other hand, the corona calm in the state of Telangana is tremendous. On Monday, 2447 corona positive cases were registered. 1,112 corona cases were reported under Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), 183 in Rangareddy district and 235 in Medchal district. More than half of the corona cases are registered in the twin cities.
At Gandhi Hospital, 119 medical staff have been diagnosed with corona. There are 40 PG Students, 6 Faculty, 38 House Surgeons and 35 MBBS students. 159 medical staff in all the hospitals under Osmania Hospital underwent corona effect.
Corona cases are on the rise in Erragadda Mental Hospital. Already 60 people have been infected with corona, including more than 10 doctors.
Admissions to hospitals, on the other hand, are on the rise. There are 2200 patients in government hospitals and private. So far 69 corona patients have been treated at TIMS(Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences and Research) Hospital. 153 corona patients were treated at Gandhi Hospital.
