Telangana Govt Will Oppose UCC: AIMIM Chief Owaisi Meets KCR, Alleges PM Modi, BJP, RSS 'Don't Like Pluralism'

Owaisi stated that the UCC is not just a Muslim issue but also a Christian issue, and he believes that its implementation would destroy the beauty and culture of the nation.

All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Monday met Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao and discussed the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) proposed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. After the meeting, Owaisi addressed the media and expressed his concerns about the UCC. Owaisi stated that the UCC is not just a Muslim issue but also a Christian issue, and he believes that its implementation would destroy the beauty and culture of the nation. He opined that the introduction of the UCC would eliminate the pluralism of the nation. He also accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the ruling BJP, and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of not appreciating the value of pluralism, which he considers to be a significant aspect of the country's identity.

Owaisi said that Chief Minister KCR assured him that the Telangana government would oppose the UCC. Furthermore, he mentioned that they would also appeal to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy to oppose the UCC.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu CM Stalin said that the BJP wants to impose UCC and they are trying to use it against the non-BJP states. The CM earlier criticised the move to impose UCC and blamed PM Modi for attempting to completely "disrupt the law and order situation" of the country. He also accused PM Modi of trying to cause "religious violence" with the implementation.

Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin remarked, "They (BJP) want to impose UCC, and they try to use it against the non-BJP states. Those who oppose them are being threatened using CBI, ED, and IT raids."

Stalin, as per news agency PTI, said, "I am telling you categorically, people are ready to teach a fitting lesson to the BJP in the upcoming LS polls; you (people) should be prepared and be resolute (to trounce the BJP at the hustings)."
