New Delhi: Red alert to continue in northern and eastern Telangana as India Meteorological Department warned of very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall on Wednesday. Parts of north Telangana -- Mancherial, Komuram Bheem, Adilabad, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Rajanna Sircilla and Karimnagar districts are likely to receive extremely heavy rainfall for the next 24 hours. Meanwhile, the state government extended holidays for educational institutions till Saturday (July 16).
An Orange alert has been sounded in isolated places in Adilabad, Nirmal, Siddipet, Sangareddy, Medak and Kamareddy districts which implies heavy to very heavy rains are likely to occur in these regions. Heavy rains to occur at isolated places in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district in Telangana.

Meanwhile, the government of Telangana extended holidays for educational institutions from Thursday to Saturday and the colleges and schools to be opened on Monday (July 18).
In view of continuing heavy rains, the Government has decided to extend holidays for all educational institutions (government, aided and private) from 14.7.2022 to 16.7.2022 in the State. Educational Institutions shall re-open from 18.07.2022: Government of Telangana

Earlier the Telangana government has declared holidays for three days from Monday (July 11) to Wednesday (July 13) in view of incessant rains that lashed the state. "Three days holidays for educational institutions. All measures have been taken to face the incessant rains and floods," said KCR when the state government declared three days holidays for schools and colleges.
