Hyderabad: Heavy rains wreaked havoc in the Telugu states for the last five days. Weather conditions are also changing from time to time. Recently, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s Enforcement, Vigilance, and Disaster Management (EVDM) wing has warned about moderate rains and strong gusty winds throughout Hyderabad and urged residents to make appropriate travel arrangements.
According to the GHMC, the weather officials have predicted that the effect of these winds will last till 10 pm. It is also said that there is a possibility of uprooting of trees due to high winds. Officials appealed to the people to stay indoors and come out only in emergency situations.
Moderate rainfall coupled with strong gusty winds may be present across the city for the next 12 hours. Treefalls may be expected. Citizens may plan their commute accordingly. It said that Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams are on the alert to respond to emergencies. GHMC officials advised that anyone who needs urgent help can get help by calling 040-29555500. On the other hand, Hyderabad Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi also tweeted that people should stay at home and call 040-21111111 if they need immediate emergency help. She is visiting the flood-affected areas and giving essential suggestions to the authorities.
However, HMDA was also alerted during the heavy wind warnings. Special Chief Secretary of Hyderabad Municipal Department Arvind Kumar said on Twitter that steps had been taken to prevent damage to the national flag in Sanjeevaiah Park.
Due to very high wind velocity & given the height, the flag was likely to be damaged and thus been taken down temporarily to prevent any damage.
