The state government has established these colleges at a cost of around Rs. 4080 crore.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao Tuesday formally inaugurated eight new medical colleges in the state. The medical colleges launched virtually from Pragathi Bhavan, CM's official residence.

The classes commenced on Tuesday in these medical colleges, and 1,150 MBBS first-year students began their medical education. The state government has established these colleges at a cost of around Rs 4,080 crore. Medical education classes will begin in these colleges for students who have qualified for the NEET-2022.

The CM launched classes in eight medical colleges in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Mancherial, Jagtial, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem, Nagarkurnool, and Ramagundam for first-year MBBS students who secured admissions.

According to the ABP Desam report, new medical colleges will soon be established by the Telangana government in Rajanna Siricilla, Vikarabad, Khammam, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Komaram Bhim Asifabad, and Janagaon districts.

Earlier, Telangana Health Minister T Harish Rao said there were only five government medical institutions throughout undivided Andhra Pradesh's six-decade history, but after the TRS government came to power in Telangana in 2014 under the leadership of CM KCR, the number of government medical colleges climbed to 17. He further claimed that when Telangana state was formed in 2014, there were only 850 MBBS seats in the government sector, which have now been increased to 2,790.

He said that students from lower-income households who could not afford the expensive medical education at private medical colleges used to evade admissions despite scoring high on the Eamcet medical entrance exam. The health minister said that CM KCR's aim was to have a government medical college for every district.
