Earlier, Health Minister T Harish Rao said that Telangana was undergoing a white coat revolution. He said, 26 government medical colleges are functioning in Telangana and eight more are ready to come up in the next academic year.
Harish Rao said that Telangana, which had the fewest MBBS seats in 2014, had now risen to the top with the most MBBS seats. He said the State would have 22 MBBS seats for every one lakh of its population, which was an achievement unlike any other in the nation.
Harish Rao said, 43% of the country's new MBBS seats this academic year are in Telangana. He emphasised that Telangana received just one medical college out of the 157 that the Centre has distributed since 2014.
