Telangana: Central Medicine Stores To Be Launched At 12 Places With Rs 43-Cr Estimated Budget

The state government has approved Rs 43.20 crore to establish the central pharmacy stores, with each store being built at the cost of Rs 3.60 core.

The Medical and Health Department of Telangana has issued notices establishing Central Medicine Stores (CMS) at 12 places in the state. The state government has approved Rs 43.20 crore to establish the central pharmacy stores, with each store being built at the cost of Rs 3.60 core.

These are the areas where Central Medicine Stores will be set up. 

1. Siddipet (Teaching Hospital)

2. Wanaparthy (District Hospital)

3. Mahabubabad (District Hospital)

4. Jagtial (District Hospital)

5. Mancherial (District Hospital)

6. Bhupalpally (District Hospital)

7. Kothagudem (District Hospital)

8 .Nagarkurnool (District Hospital)

9. Suryapet (District Hospital)

10. Bhuvanagiri (District Hospital)

11. Vikarabad (Area Hospital)

12. Gadwal (District Hospital)

A total of 12 Data Entry Operators, 36 packers, and 12 watchmen will be hired to handle the forthcoming facilities on an outsourcing basis with pay as set by the finance department. The authorities have also approved the hiring of 12 transport vehicles, one from the RTC/Postal department, at each location.

Senior health authorities stated on Wednesday that Central Medicine Stores would also ensure enough supply of costly and life-saving medications for needy patients in Telangana's government hospitals.

According to a Telangana Today report, addressing the students and faculty of Siddipet Medical College on Wednesday during the annual day celebrations, Health Minister T Harish Rao said that the MBBS seats in government colleges have been increased from 840 to 2,840 in the last eight years post Telangana state formation. 

He said since Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had a plan to set up Government Medical Colleges in all the 33 districts' headquarters, he said the number of seats in government medical colleges would cross 5,000 shortly.
