Over 31% In 10 Years: Telangana GDP Records 'One Of The Highest Jumps For Any State'

According to data from Ministry of Statistics & Program Implementation, Telangana ranks second highest in terms of GSDP at Current Prices, from Rs 3,59,434 cr in 2011-12 to Rs 1,154,860 cr in 2021-22.

New Delhi: Telangana's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) has seen a growth of 31.12 per cent in the past decade — one of the highest jumps for any state in the country.

According to data from the Ministry of Statistics & Program Implementation, Telangana has ranked second highest in terms of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth rate at Current Prices, from Rs 3,59,434 crore in 2011-12 to Rs 1,154,860 crore in 2021-22.

In a statement, the government said it is evident now that Telangana has grown to be not only “a startup state but a unicorn at that”.

Telangana was carved out of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, “with the spirit of a startup state”, the government said, adding that the resolve was to “remain nimble, open to growth, and commit to creating a unique model of good governance”.

At 19.10 per cent, the GSDP (at current prices) growth rate of Telangana is accelerating the state’s economy at a tremendous pace, the government said.

In terms of per capita net state domestic product at current prices, Telangana has again ranked second with an 18.78 per cent growth rate, the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation said.

Taking to Twitter, TRS working president and Telangana Urban Development MInister KT Ramarao said the “numbers speak for themselves”, and said the growth trajectory of India’s “youngest state” came despite “massive hurdles such as Bifurcation Blues, Demonetisation, Corona Pandemic & Zero support from Govt of India”.
