Earlier on Wednesday, BJP leader Sanjay clarified that the incident took place two months ago at the University campus in Hyderabad. He said that Sai Bhagirath's batchmate harassed a girl by texting her and thus he fought with his batchmate after finding that the latter took the girl's number from his phone. He said that the matter was resolved.

A case has been filed against Sai Bhagirath after the college authorities lodged a complaint as the video of him thrashing a student of Mahindra college went viral on social media.

As it was reported earlier, the BJP leader's son, who is pursuing a management course, was angry with the victim, Sriram. In the video, Bhagirath can be heard hurling abuse at the victim and then slapping and punching him.

Leaders and supporters of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) widely shared the video and trained guns on the BJP leader. The victim also released a video admitting that he had troubled a girl, which angered Bhagirath, and the latter thrashed him.
