Hyderabad is set to get its first flight-themed restaurant in December at Shamirpet with Pista House, the popular eatery of Hyderabad, recently purchasing Air India's first Airbus-320 for the purpose. Abdul Majeed, who founded his restaurant chain with the first one in Shalibanda in 1997, currently has 32 branches in Hyderabad and is planning the 33rd as a flight restaurant.

Abdul Majeed said, "After buying the plane, we faced challenges after it got stuck at an underpass in Andhra Pradesh. The local residents as well as the AP Police helped us by handling the situation and sending it through a different route."

Abdul Majeed said the intention of this restaurant was to introduce a new concept to the city. "Hyderabad is one of the most happening cities, so we needed to come up with a fresh idea. Then we narrowed it down to acquiring an actual plane and converting it into a restaurant," he said.

"We will be making a runway for the plane. The tickets would be like the boarding passes, the customer will have to go through a security check just like the one at the airport and there will be 150 seats on the plane," he said.

"We bought the plane for roughly Rs 75 lakh and plan to invest additional Rs 30 lakh to Rs 40 lakh for designing it as a restaurant," said Sridhar, the franchise owner.
