Hyderabad Godown Fire: Toll Rises To 9, CM KCR Orders Immediate Relief Measures. Union Minister Reddy Visits Site
At least nine people have died after a fire broke out in a warehouse in an apartment complex in Hyderabad's Nampally.
At least nine people have died in a fire at a godown located in an apartment complex in Bazarghat, Nampally of Hyderabad, reported ANI citing DCP Venkateshwar Rao Central Zone. According to PTI, the blaze erupted on the ground floor where some drums containing chemicals were stored. A senior Fire Department official earlier told reporters that 21 people have been evacuated so far and ten of them were shifted to a hospital while six of them died, as per the agency. Now, the toll has risen to nine.
"The fire broke out at 9.20 am today. Nine people died in the incident because of suffocation," says a police official.

Meanwhile, Telangana CM KCR offered condolences on the deaths in the fire incident and ordered the concerned officials to take all relief measures immediately.

"Chief Minister Shri K. Chandrasekhar Rao expressed deep shock over the fire incident at Nampally Bazaar Ghat. Condolences were expressed to the families of the deceased. CM Shri KCR has ordered the officials to immediately take strong relief measures. The authorities have been advised to provide better medical care to the seriously injured and to be vigilant and take appropriate measures," the Telangana Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

"Telangana government is not taking action in such cases. I have repeatedly asked the state government to shift such warehouses out of the city. I will speak to the PM to get financial assistance for the families of the deceased in this incident," the Union Minister said after visiting the site.
