Hyderabad: Man Accuses Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan of Assault
The assault was captured in a CCTV camera installed nearby and a police complaint has been registered.
Hyderabad: A 35-Year-old Gulam Ghouse Jilani, a Hyderabad resident, accused Charminar MLA Mumtaz Ahmed Khan of assaulting him in public because he did not greet him.
He lodged a complaint against the MLA. He added to his complaint a medical report from Osmania doctors that he had injuries on his left jaw and ear.
Jeelani said Khan is his neighbour. He said that he was sitting outside his residence at the Charminar bus stop On Saturday night when Khan arrived with his armed guards and thrashed him.
He continued repeating that he had been a legislative member for 25 years. He then threatened to tear me apart, and his nephews threatened to shoot me.
Jeelani claimed he had previously complained to AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi about the local MLA. "Because Owaisi advised me to handle the situation with patience, I had remained silent. However, this is inexcusable," he said.
The CCTV footage shows the MLA walking up to Jeelani. Following that, there is an altercation where the two are seen arguing. The MLA then slaps Jeelani, and his security officers are seen pushing him. As the legislator moves to hit Jeelani again, others pull him away.
"We are inquiring the matter. We are examining the CCTV footage too," a police official told PTI.
