BJP Slams Telangana Congress Leader Jeevan Reddy For Slapping Woman During Poll Campaign: VIDEO

The Telangana Congress leader slapped the woman after she voiced her disappointment stating that despite voting for the Congress in the recent Assembly elections she has not received her pension.

Telangana Congress leader and Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency candidate T Jeevan Reddy came under attack after slapping a woman during the campaign in Armur Assembly segment. The incident caught on camera showed the former Minister slapping the woman. The video was also widely circulated on social media on Friday.

In a village within the Armur Assembly segment, an incident unfolded during a campaign involving the Congress candidate and other leaders. Allegedly, Jeevan Reddy, the candidate, slapped a woman, a labourer under the rural employment guarantee scheme, after she expressed her intention to vote for the 'flower' symbol in the upcoming May 13 election, according to a report on IANS.

The woman voiced her disappointment, stating that despite voting for the Congress in the recent Assembly elections, she has not received her pension. P. Vinay Kumar Reddy, who unsuccessfully contested the Assembly election from Armur, accompanied the Congress candidate during the incident.

Several BJP leaders shared the video on X and condemned the act of the Congress leader.

Armur is among the seven Assembly segments falling under the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency. In the upcoming election, the Congress has nominated Jeevan Reddy to contest against the incumbent MP D. Arvind from the BJP.

After the formation of Telangana, Jeevan Reddy secured the sole seat from North Telangana for Congress Party. Initially elected as an MLA from the TDP in 1983, he was appointed to State Cabinet as the Excise Minister. Later, he parted ways with N.T.R. and joined the Congress Party under the leadership of the late Rajeev Gandhi in 1984. He continued to win elections for the Congress Party in 1989, 1996, 1999, 2004, and 2014. In 2019, he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council (Graduate) from the Karimnagar Assembly constituency with a significant majority of 39,430 votes.

Telangana will vote in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on May 13.
