Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to deliver the Union Budget 2024 in Parliament on Tuesday, July 23, marking her seventh consecutive Budget presentation. This achievement surpasses the previous record of six consecutive Budgets held by Morarji Desai.

Modi 3.0's First Full Budget Presentation

This Budget is notably significant as it is the first full Budget of the Modi 3.0 government following its recent re-election for a third term. Taxpayers and various stakeholders are anticipating notable tax reliefs and economic reforms.

The public is particularly hopeful for measures that will provide substantial tax relief to the middle class, thereby increasing disposable income, amid expectations of tax buoyancy. Market analysts are also keenly watching for commitments to the fiscal glide path aimed at reducing the fiscal deficit to 4.5 per cent of GDP by 2025-26.

Sitharaman, who made a notable shift in 2019 by replacing the traditional leather briefcase with a 'bahi-khata' wrapped in red cloth, will continue the trend of a paperless Budget, as has been the practice for the past three years.
