Complying with the US ban, TikTok has disconnected access to its users in the US region.
TikTok has disconnected access to its users in the US, as no action was taken before the national ban was imposed. The Supreme Court recently upheld the law banning TikTok in the US and following that, the video-sharing app urged the government to intervene otherwise, it would 'go into the dark'. Since the Joe Biden government did not intervene and US President-elect Donald Trump was unable to intervene until he took office, TikTok had no other option than disconnecting access to its users in the US.
When users tried using the app, a message appeared on their screen that read, "A law banning TikTok has been enacted in the US. Unfortunately, that means you can't use TikTok for now," reported AFP news agency.

Initially, it was believed the ban would not affect users who already had the app installed on their devices. However, TikTok's updated statement now makes it clear that the app has become entirely inaccessible to both current users and new downloaders.

President Joe Biden’s term concludes on Monday, with Donald Trump set to assume office the same day. The White House has indicated that enforcing the law will be the responsibility of the incoming administration.
Although Trump initially supported the ban, he has since expressed opposition to it. He said, "My decision on TikTok will be made in the not too distant future, but I must have time to review the situation."
