PM Modi Embraces AI, Showcases Real-Time Translation Of His Speech At Kashi Tamil Sangamam

"This was my first experience. In the future, I will use it," PM Modi said as his speech was translated from Hindi to Tamil in real time.

In a notable address at the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with attendees through the use of real-time artificial intelligence translation for his speech. During the event on Sunday, Modi encouraged those from Tamil Nadu to utilise earphones for an artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted translation experience, marking his first venture into this technology. Expressing optimism about the potential of artificial intelligence, the Prime Minister stated that it would facilitate improved communication with the public.

"This was my first experience. In the future, I will use it, and you will have to respond. Now, as usual, I speak in Hindi, and AI will translate it to Tamil," Modi remarked.

Highlighting the cultural significance of the occasion, Modi emphasised the unique connection between Tamil Nadu and Kashi. "Coming from Tamil Nadu to Kashi means coming from one home of Mahadev to His other home. Coming from Tamil Nadu to Kashi means coming from the place of Madurai Meenakshi to Kashi Vishalakshi's place," he noted.

The ongoing Kashi Tamil Sangamam, spanning from December 17 to the end of the month, features the participation of 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. In addition to cultural exchange programs, the event will host an exhibition showcasing the diverse array of art, music, handloom, handicrafts, cuisines, and other distinctive products from both Tamil Nadu and Varanasi.

Under the stewardship of the Union Ministry of Education, the event sees collaboration with various ministries and departments, including culture, tourism, railways, textiles, food processing, MSME, information and broadcasting, skill development and entrepreneurship, IRCTC, and related departments of the Uttar Pradesh government.

The Kashi Tamil Sangamam encompasses a series of lectures covering literature, ancient texts, philosophy, spirituality, music, dance, drama, yoga, and Ayurveda. Additionally, seminars are planned to address topics such as innovation, trade, knowledge exchange, edtech, and next-gen technology.
