Xiaomi Pad 5 India Launch On April 27, Its First Tab In The Country In 7 Years

Xiaomi had launched the Mi Pad in the country earlier in 2015.

New Delhi: After a long gap handset maker Xiaomi will launch its Xiaomi Pad 5 in India with 33W fast charging and a Snapdragon 860 SoC on April 27. The Xiaomi Pad 5 will be unveiled alongside the flagship Xiaomi 12 Pro in the country and it will be the company's first tablet launch in India in seven years. Earlier in 2015, Xiaomi had launched the Mi Pad in the country.

The Xiaomi Pad 5 is slated to be unveiled alongside Xiaomi 12 Pro. The Xiaomi Pad 5 was earlier launched in the company's home turf China and other global markets recently. The Indian variant of the Xiaomi Pad 5 is likely to come with the same set of specifications as the global models and the tablet will compete with rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8, Lenovo Tab P11, Realme Pad, Galaxy Tab S7 FE among others.

The price of the Xiaomi Pad 5 starts at CNY 1,999 which is roughly Rs 24,000 for the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage option while the 256GB storage model costs CNY 2,299 or roughly Rs 27,500. The Xiaomi Pad 5 was launched in China in 2021. However, the launch of Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro, which is available in China with 5G and Wi-Fi, is unlikely to launch in India. According to a report by 91Mobiles, the Xiaomi Pad 5 may be launched with a stylus and keyboard accessories.

Xiaomi Pad 5 expected specifications and features

The Xiaomi Pad 5 features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 860 SoC paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and runs on proprietary MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11. The tablet is fueled by an 8,720mAh battery with 33W fast-charging support and its dimensions are 254.69×166.25×6.85mm while the weight is 511 grams.

In terms of imaging, the Xiaomi Pad 5 has a 13MP sensor on the back and an 8MP sensor on the front for selfies and video calling. Other features of the tablet include USB Type-C audio, quad speakers and Dolby Atmos while connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, 5G, 4G LTE (optional) dual-band Wi-Fi, and USB Type-C. There is an 11-inch WQXGA display with an aspect ratio of 16:10 and a refresh rate of 120Hz.
